On a cool summer evening in 2008, ATB Financial associate Trudy Hallam was making her way home to Calgary after a trip to British Columbia. As she approached the corner of 37th street and Spruce Meadows Trail, deep in the city’s southwest, she was taken aback by the scene that was unfolding before her eyes.
An approaching thunderstorm created an incredible contrast of colours between the ominous clouds, the setting sun, the shimmering canola field and the dark blue water. An inspired Hallam pulled over, grabbed her camera, and snapped this memorable photo.
She describes the field as a carpet of colour, soft in texture, which could seemingly go on forever.
