Every May, ATB associates and customers say: “We’re going to help sick Alberta kids.” That powerful and resonant pledge drove thousands of Albertans to raise $554,384 in May 2009 for the Stollery and Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundations in the 10th Annual Teddy for a Toonie campaign.
During the campaign, ATB’s 163 branches, corporate offices and agencies raised money by asking customers to donate a toonie in exchange for an entry form to win a custom-made teddy bear. Branches also led creative events – head-shaving campaigns, silent auctions, golf tournaments – to raise money for the Stollery Children’s Hospital emergency room expansion, and for the Alberta Children’s Hospital Centre of Excellence for Childhood Cancer.
Including this year’s effort, ATB has raised more than $3 million over the 10-year life of the campaign. Our 2009 campaign kids featured here are the reasons why.
