On the night of February 26th, 2010, Canmore’s Sara Renner had a lot on her mind. The next day -- in her fourth and final Olympics -- she would compete as a world-class cross-country skier for the last time. She was dealing with the emotions of ending her career while at the same time preparing for a race she believed she could win.
Still, in a move that was quintessentially “Sara”, she found the time to email her friends – and fans -- at ATB Financial:
To the fine folks at ATB,
The Olympics have been wonderful and something that all Canadians can be proud of. The spirit has been incredible. I've had some great races with two top ten performances but my best chance is coming up tomorrow. It is raining tonight and I know our wax men will have great skis for tomorrow. I'm psyched!
Thank you everyone at ATB for all your cheering and best wishes. I have my last race tomorrow - the 30 km classic. Your support gives me strength and I will use every last ounce of it on the ski trails.
Sara
