February 20th was an incredible day for hockey fans in Oil Country as ATB and the Edmonton Oilers hosted a pair of memorable events at West Edmonton Mall.
The first – the always popular ATB Financial Edmonton Oilers Autograph Session – attracted more than 10,000 fans from across northern and central Alberta. Some arrived as early as 5:30am to ensure some face time with their hockey heroes. Oilers players were stationed throughout the mall to meet with fans, pose for photos and, of course, sign autographs.
“It’s always a day we look forward to and to see the amount of people that showed up was outstanding,” said Oilers Captain Shawn Horcoff. “Every year there’s a huge turnout at this event and it shows how much support the Oilers have in Oil Country.”
The second event – dubbed ‘Ink & Oil’ – gave 200 lucky fans the chance to rub shoulders with three of the Oilers’ young stars. Sam Gagner, Andrew Cogliano and Tom Gilbert spent a full hour visiting with fans, many of whom won exclusive invitations to Ink & Oil by entering a special online contest. The winners got an experience they won’t soon forget.
