Do you know an Alberta woman who has stood firm in her beliefs and, without recognition, made a powerful impact on our province? ATB Financial wants to share her story. ATB is now accepting nominations for the Mistresses of the Modern: Celebrating Alberta Women through Stories competition.

Our judging committee – comprised of prominent professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders – will select six women and one young woman (18-25) and share their stories with the whole province. Those selected will be invited to an exclusive reception at the Art Gallery of Alberta (AGA) and a short film celebrating their stories will run in the spring of 2012 during the Alberta Mistresses of the Modern: 1935-1975 exhibition, part of the ATB Financial sponsored Alberta Masters Series at the AGA.

Whose stories are we looking for?

We are looking for amazing stories of Alberta women from across the province, living in rural communities, big cities, and everywhere in between. The following categories represent the type of stories we want to share. They are merely suggestions and nominees do not need to be placed or fit into one category. It is most important that her story be meaningful, poignant, and inspiring and has not been previously recognized.

Starting Over

Whether from another city, province or country, these are the women who have chosen to start over and make Alberta home. Their lives are filled with life lessons that need to be heard.

Community

These are the women who are behind the scenes, doing the little things that add up to huge benefits for communities across Alberta. These women are a source of steady support and create meaningful, positive change in the lives of people around them.

Pioneering Spirit

These are women who consider hard work, adversity, and braving new territory as stepping stones, not hurdles, on the path to success. Whatever their chosen field or profession, their talent and determination has enriched Alberta with strength, diversity and excellence.
