Slave Lake

On May 15, 2011, the town of Slave Lake was evacuated. Residents were given little notice to grab whatever belongings they could and escape. A wildfire – burning in the area for several days – had suddenly arrived.

The fire swept through the town quickly, destroying virtually everything in its path. When it finally subsided, one-third of Slave Lake had burned to the ground.

Dozens of ATB Financial customers and employees were affected by the fire. Some lost their homes and all of their possessions.

The following documentary is a tribute to the resilient citizens of Slave Lake, who through the worst of circumstances, have remained upbeat, determined to rebuild the town and their lives.

This was a wonderful tribute to the community of Slave Lake after going through such a tremendous termoil in their lives. Plus, thank you for sharing the story with everyone at ATB Financial. All of a sudden, our issues with CORE and SAP do not seem to be that earth shattering at all.

Slave Lake is my home town and I lived there for over 30 years. I just want to say that words can not express the gratitude I have for ATB's support to my family and friends. Even though I have not lived in Slave lake for about 7 years, the fires affectly me greatly. I was in Slave Lake on Thanksgiving and it was very heartwarming to see the new construction, and the temporary trailers set up!! Thanks again!
