Now in its sixth year, Free Footie is a program designed to make soccer available to the highest needs children in Edmonton. Founded and coordinated by local news reporter and footie aficionado Tim Adams—Free Footie provides everything a child needs to play the game: shin pads, socks, shorts, jerseys, even a bus ride to the game if it’s outside of walking distance. All at no charge thanks in part to a major sponsorship from ATB Financial. This season, ATB made sure each of the over 1,200 participants in the Free Footie program had their very own soccer ball.
