ATB team members and customers are known for being active and engaged in their communities and that shows the most during the holidays. Here are just a few examples of how ATB is spreading cheer.
ATB made $5,000 donations to the CBC radio Turkey Drives in both Edmonton and Calgary in support of local food banks.
Edmonton-area ATB branches are gathering donations throughout December for the Christmas Bureau, which provides festive meals for families in need during the holidays. ATB will top up all of the donations gathered with a corporate donation of $25,000. We also showed our support for the cause by lighting our downtown Edmonton headquarters green earlier this month.
Each year, B's Diner in Edmonton's Old Strathcona district holds a Christmas party for those less fortunate. B's pulls out all the stops with a festive dinner and live entertainment. They also collect donations of clothing and toiletries for folks who need them. This year, B's needed some extra help to put on the event and ATB stepped up by donating 30 hams for the dinner.
ATB Calgary Campus team members came together to raise funds for the Calgary Food Bank. Team members donated cash and food items, hosted a bake sale and hosted the Perogy Boyz Food Truck who, in turn, donated $1.00 per sale. Altogether we raised over $500 for the Calgary Food Bank.
Each December, the CP Holiday Train makes its way through Alberta, stopping in communities to put on a show and help gather donations for local charities. For the third year in a row, the train stopped in Wetaskiwin, 30 minutes south of Edmonton, where the ATB branch always lends a hand organizing the event and serving a few hundred cups of hot chocolate. Despite a wind chill of -27, a huge crowd turned up for the event, making donations to the local food bank and Salvation Army. Check our video below.
At ATB's Customer Holiday Receptions in both Edmonton and Calgary, ATB customers were encouraged to donate socks or cash for those in need.
In Edmonton, we collected $3,140 in cash donations (equivalent of 341 pairs of socks) and 397 pairs of socks for a total of 738 pairs of socks to be donated to Boyle Street Community Services.
In Calgary, we collected $2,635 in Cash (equivalent of 264 pairs of socks) and 456 pairs of socks for a total 720 pairs of socks to be donated to the Calgary Drop-In Centre.
Twenty-two ATB team members volunteered to decorate the big hall at Easter Seals Camp Horizon in advance of their ATB Christmas in Kananaskis camp. The event is for adult campers with developmental disabilities. ATB is a major supporter of both the event and Easter Seals Camp Horizon, which creates amazing camp experiences for Albertans of all ages and abilities.
ATB also collected donations at all of our Calgary-area branches for Christmas gifts for all 60 campers. Easter Seals representatives picked up the gift boxes from ATB branches on December 15, including our Stephen Avenue Centre branch (pictured below).
